Goal
Create
a professional wardrobe for transition to civilian work force.
Problem
After 22 years of continuous service in the U.S. Army, Dennis
was facing the reality of making a transition to the civilian
work environment. The uniforms directed by the Army had given
him very limited, but secure parameters for what he was expected
to wear under every circumstance. He had no significant experience
in making decisions about his work attire nor had he given
much thought to how his wardrobe choices affected him or others
perception of him. Now he needed business attire to interview
for civilian jobs. He read plenty of advice about interview
suits but didn't develop a lot of confidence. He noticed that
most of his peers who had made this transition looked awkwardly
out of place and stood out poorly from job seekers who had
been in the civilian work force for years. He wanted to make
a better impression and be more in control of the image he
presented in whatever new career he found.
Solution
The retired Army Officer used image coaching services to:
- Define
the image he wanted to express and define his wardrobe
goals.
- Get
a personalized color analysis & palette to guide future
clothing purchases.
- Assess
his wardrobe. Create work outfits from his existing wardrobe
and develop a prioritized list of items to acquire.
- Receive
coaching on identifying his most suitable garment styles.
- Receive
several hours of personal shopping to learn what to look
for in a proper fit.
Results
Dennis made a successful transition to civilian work life.
Most of his business acquaintances did not know on first meeting
him that he was prior military. He earned a reputation at
his current employer as the best dressed man - regardless
of the occasion.
